Stepping Off the Runaway Train
Yesterday, a YouTube viewer left a comment about the suggestion that we can take a break from eating: "Are you a doctor? You shouldn't be giving advice like this." Their username? Runaway Train.
Well, yes, I am a doctor and no I am not giving medical advice. But more importantly, that username is such a wonderful description of modern food culture that we have to lean into it.
We’ve been conditioned to think that "frequent eating" is normal, but this constant consumption is a runaway train driving our collective metabolic health off a cliff. In this live session, we are pulling the emergency brake. Taking a break from eating, if we have weight to lose, is not some sort of irresponsible decision; it’s a rational, grounded way to give the body the digestive and metabolic space it desperately needs to heal, lower insulin, and achieve sustainable weight loss.
I've stepped off the train.
Sincerely,
-Phil Zimmermann, MD
